Changing Seasons
The changing of seasons is written in nature. We pass through a winter of waiting where the landscape is cold and barren. Then comes the first signs of spring--newly formed buds, warmer weather, longer days. New life is on its way, bringing rejoicing in the hope of things to come.It is in this spirit that we celebrate developments among the Gypsies in Romania. Even while John fights off the last vestiges of winter sickness, doors are opening for their building projects. They have an opportunity to purchase land in Sacueiu where they conducted a VBS last summer (see photo). The Gypsies are so excited about building that they want to begin construction now because they will be gone in the Fall. John will be meeting with the mayor Thursday morning to see if it will be possible to build.
They have had to conduct Bible studies in three separate homes in this village to hold all the people. A building will also enable them to begin another ministry that has been on their hearts--a literacy program. Many of the Gypsy children are illiterate. Even if they attend school they are often neglected by their teachers. In addition, adults in Sacueiu want to learn to read the Bible! We praise God for the doors He is opening.
What You Can Do:
- Pray that God would grant them favor as they meet with the mayor
- Pray that God's will would be done with regard to the purchase of this property
- Pray that God would use the enthusiasm of the Gypsies to unite their hearts and cause them to grow spiritually
- Pray that God would supernaturally heal John and Nicu who have both been battling illness
"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." (Galatians 6:9)
