Jeremiah 41
“They were afraid of what the Babylonians would do when they heard that Ishmael had killed Gedaliah, the governor appointed by the Babylonian king.” (Jeremiah 41:18, NLT)
As I write this, we are literally leaving our port and heading out to sea where I will no longer have Internet. So this will be a very short devo!
Yesterday, we looked at Gedaliah’s lack of discernment in that he didn’t listen to Johanan’s warning about Ishmael. Tragically, Ishmael then assassinated Gedaliah! Today we see another mistake made by the people who remained in Judah. They gave in to their fears rather than trusting in the LORD.
I will leave you today with Proverbs 3:5-6, which I believe every believer should memorize:
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5–6, NKJV)
May we trust completely in the LORD today and not give in to our fears. God will protect us and guide our steps!
