Why is our name called The Living Room?
I came home from work super tired and ready to relax. So I sat down on the couch about ready to turn on the TV. Suddenly my dog came into the living room with a sign around his neck saying, “Newest member of the Zachman family due November.” I was so overwhelmed with excitement, fear, and happiness! I was going to be a father!
If you’re like us, the Living Room in our home is the hub for all the important things that happen. From the joys of new life being announced to hardships. Also, it’s a place where thousands of family memories are made.
When I go to my parent’s house, the Living Room is the first place we head to. We just hang, talk, and enjoy each other.
In our youth group that is the vision. A place to “take off your shoes” if you will. A family environment where youth feel safe, loved, and secure.
The purpose of this youth ministry is to equip young people with the Word of God so that they might reach a lost and hopeless world. We emphasize learning and doing. Jesus said in Matthew 7:13-14, to enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. But narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Many young people today are on this path that leads to destruction, we want to show them the narrow path, and then encourage them to show others how to find this narrow path.
Youth love to ask the question, “How can I know the will of God?” At the Living Room, our key verse is:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight." -Proverbs 3:5-6
Here God tells us how to discover His will for our lives. We want to help youth understanding this and make Jesus a reality in their lives and in the lives of everyone they influence.
Every Thursday at 6:30 pm.
The Living Room is for Jr. High and Senior High Students.
We meet at 9226 W. Barnes Dr. Boise, ID 83709
