Isaiah 40:18-31

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.” (Isaiah 40:28–29, NKJV)

Isaiah compares the omnipotent, omniscient and everlasting Yahweh to idols made by men. The conclusion: there is no one like Him. God has left His signature in everything He has made, so people who ignore or reject Him are without excuse. He is great and mighty; He stretches out the immeasurably vast universe. And yet He condescends to meet us where we are. He counts the stars in all the galaxies and also numbers the hairs of our heads.

We grow weary and faint. We become overwhelmed with life’s problems. We lack wisdom in what to do. But God neither faints nor is weary. He never lacks wisdom because He always knows the right thing to do. His understanding is unsearchable, yet He understands everything.

Who is it that the LORD helps? He gives power to the weak and increases the strength of those who have no might. He resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. He gives wisdom to those who ask.

If we would receive power, strength, grace and wisdom, then we must become weak in ourselves but strong in the LORD. We must humble ourselves as children and ask our Abba Father for all that we need. Have you waited on the LORD in faith until your strength has been renewed, and you’ve flown like the eagle?
