Exodus 2:1-10

“But when she could no longer hide him, she took an ark of bulrushes for him, daubed it with asphalt and pitch, put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river’s bank.” (Exodus 2:3, NKJV)

This is one of the most beautiful stories in the Bible. Because of what Jochebed did, Moses' parents received an honorable mention in the Hall of Faith.

“By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s command.” (Hebrews 11:23, NKJV)

At great risk to themselves and to their other children, they hid baby Moses. Then his mother made an ark of bulrushes to protect him while she set him afloat on the Nile, for Pharaoh had ordered that the male babies be cast into the river.

Exercising faith is not without risk. Great faith requires courage. But our courage comes from reliance upon God's promises. The more we trust God and His promises the greater our faith and courage will be. How marvelous that God honored their faith by divinely arranging multiple circumstances to ensure that Moses was raised in the house of Pharaoh! God's hand was on this little boy to be the deliverer of His people. But He did this through the faith of Moses' parents.

Is there something you feel that God is calling you to do? It will require faith and courage. There will be opposition, and you will probably wrestle with fear and doubt. But you cannot experience success until you take the first step of bold faith. No guts, no glory!
