Abram Is Called

God called Abram when he was in Ur of the Chaldees, an idolatrous nation.

“Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you.” (Genesis 12:1, NKJV)

Abram didn't know where he was going. He had no jobs set up. He had no home in which to dwell. All he had was a promise that God would bless him and the tent he and Sarai would live in. Abram is the father of everyone who is justified by faith because Abram believed God, and Abram went.

God still speaks to people today. It may not be in an audible voice. Often He simply speaks to us through His Word. But He calls us to step out in faith, and He wants us to obey. The just shall live by faith (Rom. 1:17).

Is God speaking to you to leave your comfort zone to go someplace that He will show you? We often want to know the entire plan before we make a move, but usually God only shows us the next step. Are you willing to take it?
