Psalm 67:1-68:10
“A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation. God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.” (Psalm 68:5–6, NKJV)
Before we can represent God, we must know God. Before we can be used by God, we must share His heart. Every work of God begins in love. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. God loves not only the lovable and the godly, but also the unlovable and ungodly. We were all ungodly when God first loved us; we were sinners when Christ died for us. God’s love extends to those who are not loved—to the least, the last, and the lost.
God steps in where society has failed. He is a father to the fatherless. He protects and provides for widows and single women. He cares for the stranger. He dwells in a high and holy place but also with the humble to revive the heart of the contrite (Isaiah 57:15). He searches for the lonely and isolated ones to place them in families. He gathers lost sheep and brings them into His flock. He destroys the works of the devil; He breaks the chains of sin that hold people captive. He has mercy on those who have been rejected and unloved. He has compassion for sheep who have no Shepherd. But He also resists the proud, stiff-necked and rebellious. He will crush to powder the wicked who reject Christ and refuse to repent (Matthew 21:44).
Do we have the Lord’s heart? Do we have His vision? His vision is our provision. When we see what He sees and share His heart, then He will grant us all that we need to do His will. Where God guides, God provides.
“Heavenly Father, forgive us when we have viewed others according to the flesh and not according to Your heart. Open our eyes today to see You and to see others as You see them. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.”
