Mark 10:17-31

“But Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.’” (Mark 10:27, NKJV)

The disciples were shocked. Their whole lives they were told that wealth was a sign of God’s favor and blessing. But as the rich, young ruler walked away sorrowful, Jesus said that it was easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. So, the question on their lips was, “Who then can be saved?”

This should be the response of anyone who comes to a true awareness of God’s holiness and their own sinfulness. It is the same reaction of Isaiah, when he was taken up to heaven in a vision and saw the throne of God, and heard the seraphim saying to one another, “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts. The whole earth is full of His glory!”

“So I said: ‘Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips. For my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.’” (Isaiah 6:5, NKJV)

But God has done the impossible. He has forgiven our sins through the death of His Son; and He remembers them no more. This was impossible for us, but it is possible with God. No one can enter the kingdom of God by his or her own merits. But with God all things are possible.

What impossible things are you facing? The death of a relationship? A mountain of bills? A besetting sin from which you cannot free yourself? The things that are impossible for us are possible with God.

Do you believe this? Will you ask the Almighty God and loving Heavenly Father to do the impossible thing for you by His grace?
