Ezekiel 7

Aug 16, 2024  •  Pastor Daryl Zachman

“The word of the LORD came to me: ‘And you, O son of man, thus says the Lord GOD to the land of Israel: An end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land.’” (Ezekiel 7:1–2, ESV)

There is a Day coming…a Day known only to the LORD. It will be the Day of His judgment of the earth. All the prophets have spoken of it. While many people live in ignorance, while they think all things will continue as they always have, God has established an end…and it is upon us.

While living in Babylon, Ezekiel warned the people who were in Jerusalem.

“Thus says the Lord GOD: Disaster after disaster! Behold, it comes. An end has come; the end has come; it has awakened against you. Behold, it comes.” (Ezekiel 7:5–6, ESV)

I believe this is relevant to our world today. Consider the things we see happening:

-Wars and rumors of wars

-Anti-Semitic rhetoric, reviling and vandalism

-Violence in our streets, schools and public gatherings

-Rampant sexual immorality, pornography, homosexuality and gender confusion

-Lawlessness, godlessness and blasphemy

-Bitterness, hatred and cruelty

-People are lovers of pleasure, lovers of self, and lovers of money rather than lovers of God

Can a just God allow these things to continue forever with impunity? No, the same God who brought the Flood, who destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah with fire, and who devastated His own city of Jerusalem will bring certain judgment on a wicked world.

So then, is this all doom and gloom? It is if your hope is only in this world. The end is here. But there is hope for those who trust in Jesus Christ. We know He is coming soon for His Bride. Are we living for Him? Are we doing those things He has told us to do?

“Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” (Luke 21:28, NKJV)

If you don’t like the outlook, try the up look.
