Ezekiel 38:1-17

“You will come up against my people Israel, like a cloud covering the land. In the latter days I will bring you against my land, that the nations may know me, when through you, O Gog, I vindicate my holiness before their eyes.” (Ezekiel 38:16, ESV)

It is awesome to consider that God rules in the kingdoms of men. Often people are anxious over world events and the power brokers who seem to be running things. But over and above all this, God is orchestrating His plan for mankind. He determines times and seasons by His own authority. He raises nations up and brings them down.

So it is no surprise that at the right time He will bring a great alliance of nations against Israel. They will move in like great storm clouds in the latter days. He will raise up Gog from “the uttermost parts of the north,” an earthly leader whom God will use to demonstrate His holiness before all the nations. What will appear to be doomsday for Israel will turn out to be their greatest victory, for God will fight this battle for them.

As we watch Israel currently at war, people from every nation are against her. If they are not launching missiles into her cities, they are protesting in the streets of other cities. We have not seen such widespread Anti-Semitism since World War II. Could this war escalate into the Magog invasion? I don’t know. But one thing I do know is that God tells us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. And He has made Jerusalem the prophetic signpost to show us that we are in the last of the last days. His purpose is to show us that He always keeps His word and that He is holy.
