Amos 3
“Surely the Lord GOD does nothing unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.” (Amos 3:7, NKJV)
For so many years, God had been patient with Israel. He had brought them out of Egypt and made them His special treasure of all the families of the earth. He had given them His good laws and brought them into the land of milk and honey. When they went astray, He sent His prophets to correct and restore them. But they ignored His commandments and would not heed the prophets. They stiffened their necks, hardened their hearts, and refused to change. Therefore, God would bring devastation upon them. Nevertheless, He would not do anything against His people without first revealing it to His prophets.
The Bible is 30 percent prophecy. God reveals the future before it happens. He tells us that we may prepare ourselves, and when we see it happening, we may believe in Him. But how many people are paying attention? Most people are just busy with their lives, doing their own thing. But God reveals Himself to those who are listening.
“The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant.” (Psalm 25:14, NKJV)
Jesus told His disciples:
“When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.” (John 16:13, NKJV)
The question is, are we listening? Or are we so busy with our own thoughts and plans that we have no time to sit at His feet?
