Exodus 3:13-22

“And God said to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM.’ And He said, ‘Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’’” (Exodus 3:14, NKJV)

What is in a name? Well, it depends on whose name it is. The name of the LORD is unlike any other.

Even though Moses was called by God, he had great reservations about going back to Egypt. How would he be received? Would Pharaoh kill him? Would the Hebrews think he was crazy? He asked the LORD, “Who shall I say sent me?” The LORD replied, “You shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

The name of God is YHWH. (Whenever you see the word “LORD” in all caps in the Old Testament, it is “YHWH” in Hebrew). No one knows exactly how to pronounce it. It is a derivative of a Hebrew word meaning “to be”. Therefore, God told Moses, “Tell them I AM has sent me to you.”

The LORD is the Becoming One. Whatever you need is what He becomes to you.

Do you need peace? He is your peace (Judges 6:24).

Do you need righteousness? He is your righteousness (Jeremiah 33:16).

Do you need healing? He is your healer (Exodus 15:26).

Do you need provision? He is your provider (Genesis 22:14).

So, what is it that you need today? Where do you feel insufficient and need God’s sufficiency? Why not reach out to Him today and humbly ask for His help? And then ask Him to make you His instrument to help someone else.

“So we may boldly say: ‘The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?’” (Hebrews 13:6, NKJV)
