Sin and Shame

The serpent tempts Eve to eat the forbidden fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. He appeals to the lust of the flesh (it was good for food), the lust of the eyes (it was pleasant to the eyes), and the pride of life (it was desirable to make one wise). These are the same three ways Satan tempts people today.

Which of these three are most tempting to you?

The lust of the flesh (the desire to satisfy the bodily appetites)
The lust of the eyes (the desire for possessions, money and earthly security)
The pride of life (the desire for position, power and recognition)
What sharp, two-edged sword of the Word could you use against this temptation? (Hebrews 4:12)
