Psalm 114-115
“Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but to Your name give glory, because of Your mercy, because of Your truth.” (Psalm 115:1, NKJV)
We must each choose our central passion. We must decide whom or what we will serve. Psalm 115 contrasts worshiping dead idols with worshiping the LORD. Because people don’t bow down to a statue, they think that they don’t worship an idol, but an idol is anything that comes between us and our worship of God. He alone deserves glory; He alone is worthy of our praise. Who has shown us mercy like our God? Who leads us into all truth?
“May the LORD give you increase, you and your children! May you be blessed by the LORD, who made heaven and earth!” (Psalm 115:14–15, ESV)
This is my prayer for our church. It is as we are blessed by the LORD that we can bless others. And He wants us to bless others with the blessings we have received. He comforts us through our troubles so that we may comfort others with the comfort we have received (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). He wants us to bless and teach our children so that they will bless and teach their children. How wonderful it is to see our faith reflected in our grandchildren!
“We will bless the LORD from this time forth and forevermore.” (Psalm 115:18, NKJV)
Warren Wiersbe writes:
“To bless the LORD means to ascribe all glory and praise to Him, to delight His heart with our joyful and willing thanksgiving and obedience.”
Let us make it our central passion to bless the LORD today and every day. This delights His heart and fills us with indescribable joy!
