Daniel 7:15-28

“He will defy the Most High and oppress the holy people of the Most High. He will try to change their sacred festivals and laws, and they will be placed under his control for a time, times, and half a time. But then the court will pass judgment, and all his power will be taken away and completely destroyed.” (Daniel 7:25–26, NLT)

It is difficult to stand by and watch wicked people get away with their wickedness. Unfortunately, we live in a fallen world where the intention of people’s hearts is evil from their youth (Genesis 8:21). God is patient with people, giving them time and opportunity to repent. And we must also be patient as we wait for the LORD’s justice. But a time is coming when God will judge the wicked. He will pour out His wrath on the ungodliness and unrighteousness of mankind (Romans 1:18). This is especially true concerning the man of sin, the Antichrist, also known as the Beast. He will speak blasphemous words against the Most High and persecute the saints. He will seek to overrule God’s laws and force people to obey him alone. God will allow him to “get away with it” for three and a half years. But then the heavenly court will pass judgment, and his power will be completely destroyed. Of course, we know that his power comes from Satan. The Beast, the false prophet and Satan, will form a diabolical unholy trinity. But even now this evil spirit is present and working in the sons of disobedience (Ephesians 2:2).

What a glorious day it will be when God finally judges and rids the earth of all this evil, and Satan will be bound and cast into the bottomless pit for a thousand years! In the meantime, we must realize that Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). We are to have nothing to do with the unfruitful works of darkness but rather expose them (Ephesians 5:11). God is the Lawgiver and Judge, and He will overthrow the wicked and exalt the righteous in due time.

“The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.” (Romans 16:20, ESV)

In the meantime, we watch, wait and pray. We seek God’s wisdom and power so that we are not overcome by evil, but we overcome evil with good. May God help us!
