Psalm 112-113
“From the rising of the sun to its going down the LORD’s name is to be praised.” (Psalm 113:3, NKJV)
We have so much to praise the LORD about. Early in our marriage, Cindy and I commuted each week to the Sacramento foothills to teach a home Bible study. We would always give the opportunity for people to pray for one another at the end of the evening. I remember the prayer of one man in particular. He was a successful businessman, and he always thanked God for his health. Now that is something I often take for granted. And there are so many blessings of God that we easily take for granted. What is it about human nature that we can ignore a thousand things that are good and focus on the one thing that bothers us? God forgive us! Better to count our blessings before the LORD, giving Him thanks for He is worthy!
Now the psalmist calls for us to praise the name of the LORD from sunrise to sunset. What is so special about His name? It is Yahweh, which means I AM. He is the becoming One, and whatever it is that we need that is what He is to us.
-Do you need healing? His name is Yahweh Rapha—the LORD who heals you.
-Do you need salvation? His name is Yahweh Shua—the LORD who saves you.
-Do you need provision? His name is Yahweh Yireh—the LORD who provides for you.
And there are so many other words in Scripture that are coupled with Yahweh to reveal all that God is to those who trust in Him. Let us meditate today on the name of the LORD and worship Him accordingly.
“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” (Proverbs 18:10, NKJV)
