Psalm 10
“Arise, O LORD! O God, lift up Your hand! Do not forget the humble.” (Psalm 10:12, NKJV)
The psalmist was overwhelmed with his enemies. Everywhere he turned he saw them prospering over the innocent and helpless. They oppressed others, and it seemed there was no one to stop them. The LORD was standing far away, hiding Himself and doing nothing.
I have been watching a documentary on the rise and fall of the Third Reich. It is tragic and heartbreaking to see the atrocities committed by Nazi Germany during those years. Theft, rape and murder—especially of Jews—seemed to be never ending. Evil advanced at a pace throughout Europe never seen before—all under the leadership of the ruthless dictator, Adolf Hitler.
Have you ever felt abandoned to the evil swirling around you? But God is still there even if you can’t see or feel Him. God sees, He hears, He knows, and He cares. He will not forget the humble who trust in Him. He will be their defense. The day will come when the wicked will get caught in their plots, and the evil that they now conceal will be exposed and judged. Like a lion, he waited to pounce on the helpless, but God will arise to crush him in the day of His wrath.
“Father, thank you that you see all things, and you promise never to abandon the humble. Help us patiently wait upon you for your deliverance. Strengthen us to stand in the evil day and give us faith and wisdom to overcome. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.”
