Proverbs 4:1-13

“Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; keep her, for she is your life.” (Proverbs 4:13, NKJV)

Life is a series of choices. We make our choices and then our choices make us. We choose what we will embrace. What is our belief system? What is our worldview? What are our life principles? What are our goals? How we answer these questions determines our character and destiny.

Solomon had access to anything a man could desire—fame, power, wealth, and women. But the one thing he prized above everything else was wisdom.

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7, NKJV)

Solomon personified wisdom as a woman. If you love her, she will keep you; if you exalt her, she will promote you. When you embrace her, she will honor you, adorning your head with grace and presenting you with a beautiful crown.

The amazing thing is that wisdom doesn’t cost money. It only costs time, effort and a willingness to humble yourself and learn.

“Wisdom cries aloud in the street, in the markets she raises her voice.” (Proverbs 1:20, ESV)

She is available to anyone, young or old, who will respond to her voice. She freely gives truth and understanding to anyone who receives it.

Embrace wisdom and never let her go. Never trade her for something or someone else. She will be your life and bless you with eternal life!
