Psalm 146-147
“The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy.” (Psalm 147:11, NKJV)
Who can estimate the value of the favor of the LORD? If God is for us, then it doesn’t matter who is against us. If He delights in us, then surely, He will fulfill His good purpose for us.
Psalm 147 praises the LORD for His providence. God supplies all our needs and pours out His lovingkindness. He heals us when we are broken and lifts us up when we are cast down. He walks with us through the hardest places in life. This is the heritage of those who fear the LORD, who hope in His mercy.
How can we know if we truly fear the LORD? We know by our willingness to be corrected. If we fear God, then we won’t want to do anything to displease Him. We will listen to His Spirit when He convicts or redirects us. Our hearts will be sensitive to His still, small voice. If we stumble, then we will quickly return to Him and confess our sins. We don’t run from God; we run to Him because we hope in His mercy. We delight ourselves in the LORD, and He takes pleasure in us.
But the wicked God will cast down to the ground. He resists the proud and does not hear their prayers.
Would you like to know the favor of the LORD? Then learn to fear God and trust in His mercy. He will prove Himself faithful. Praise the LORD!
